	MAY SECOND HAND HORNS

The following list of second hand horns is divided into catagories according to the standard of instrument, i.e. beginner/intermediate/professional. We have attempted to give a description of the condition of each horn. Lacquer wear is purely cosmetic and does not effect the tone quality of the horn. Full double and compensating horns of the same manufacturing quality are on a par - it is a misconception to think of compensators as inferior.

BEGINNER LEVEL COMPENSATING HORNS - for the young starter

Paxman Primo F/Bb compensating double horn. Although this horn does have a lot of cosmetic lacquer wear it is in very good condition.	No.86314	£500.00
Viking F/Bb compensating double horn. Medium fixed bell, lacquered, with case. Essentially an Anborg under a different name, this horn is a good beginners instrument. Showing a fair amount of lacquer wear, but otherwise in good condition.		£450.00

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL FULL DOUBLE HORNS

Amati Kraslice HR343 F/Bb full double horn. Yellow brass with a good coat of lacquer. Only a small number of dings on the instrument. This is a fairly large-throated horn helping the low register. It is in very good condition.	No.206269	£550.00
Holton 378 F/Bb full double horn. Yellow brass horn in excellent condition. Some very minor scratches and small dents, but nothing very noticeable. Some lacquer spots on the mouthpipe but generally a very well kept horn. Plays very easily.	No.683418	£1300.00
Miraphone F/Bb full double horn. Medium large bore, yellow brass, fixed bell, lacquered, with case. This instrument is in good condition with the lacquer mostly intact. German manufacturers Miraphone are best known for their tubas, but this horn is well made and plays very nicely.	No.98	£850.00
Yamaha 567 F/Bb full double horn. Yellow brass, fixed bell, lacquered, with case. A fantastic intermediate level horn. Although in excellent playing condition with excellent valves there are a few dings and dents around the instrument. But otherwise a great horn at a great price.	No.9127	£1200.00

PROFESSIONAL LEVEL SINGLE HORNS

Alexander 90 Bb(A-+) single horn with stopping valve. Medium fixed bell, yellow brass, lacquered, with an Alexander case. This horn is in good condition for its age with no patches except for a tiny one where the seam meets the bell rim.	No.LN3	£1750.00
Alexander 90 Bb(A-+) single horn with stopping valve. Fixed bell, gold brass, lacquered. This horn has recently had a complete overhaul and relacquer and looks absolutely stunning with its new lacquer coat. It's also a very free playing horn with a lovely sound.	No.8GB	£2300.00

PROFESSIONAL LEVEL FULL DOUBLE HORNS

Paxman 20 F/Bb full double horn. Large bore, yellow brass, fixed bell. Built in 1984, this instrument has a patch in the bell and a few minor dents. It is in good playing order.	No.10841	£2500.00
Paxman 20 F/Bb full double horn. Large bore, yellow brass, detachable bell, Minibal lever action and with titanium rotors. Although the bell has had repairs the horn is in excellent condition both in aesthetics and in performance. The titanium rotors help create a very rapid response and light to hold horn. Alexander 103 F/Bb full double horn. Gold brass, fixed bell, lacquered, with case. This horn is an early example of Alexander's flagship instrument. It has lost a lot of lacquer and has a few patches.	No.LN6/9	£2100.00
Alexander 103 F/Bb full double horn. Yellow brass, fixed bell, lacquered with a BAGS rucksack style case in black. One from the late 90s in really very good condition apart from a few dings and dents. Some general wear and tear in the lacquer where you would most expect it. Holton 178 F/Bb full double horn. Medium bore, yellow brass, lacquered, with case. A very good example of Holton's medium bore full double professional horn. Some lacquer wear, but in good overall condition.	No.646571	£1800.00
Holton 179 F/Bb full double horn. Large bore, nickel silver, lacquered, with case. This Holton is in very good condition with only a few scratches on the lacquer under the bell and a few small dents in the bell.	No.650077	£1800.00
Holton 179 F/Bb full double horn. Large bore, nickel silver, lacquered, with case. The lacquer is still complete. This horn has very few dents and plays very well.	No.580351	£1800.00
Holton 180 F/Bb full double horn. This is a yellow brass, large bore horn with a fixed bell. It has only been purchased very recently and is in as new condition with no marks at all on the lacquer.	No.662358	£1800.00
Wilson CS24 F/Bb full double horn. Yellow brass with nickel valve slides, medium bore horn with a detachable bell. This Swiss-made horn is in excellent condition. Almost as new, apart from the bell which has had a crease removed. A very easy blowing horn to help facilitate the low register.	No.CS240060	£2400.00
Yamaha 667 F/Bb full double horn. Medium bore, yellow brass, fixed bell, lacquered. This instrument shows signs of dent repairs along the flare and bell, but this is only cosmetic and the horn plays exceptionally well. There is also quite a bit of lacquer wear.	No.3009	£1700.00

DESCANT HORNS

Paxman Bb(A-+)/f-alto full double descant horn. Large detachable bell, yellow brass, lacquered, with a Paxman fibreglass case. This instrument was built in 1989, but has not been played at all. It has a small area of imperfect lacquer, but is otherwise in perfect condition.	No.1140	£4500.00
Paxman 40 Bb(A-+)/f-alto double descant horn. Large bore, yellow brass, detachable bell, lacquered, with a Marcus Bonna case. This instrument has been used professionally since it was built in the early 90s and is in very good condition barring some general lacquer wear.	No.1950	£3400.00
Alexander 107 Bb(A-+)/f-alto full double descant horn. Medium bore, yellow brass, detachable bell, with a soft gig bag. This horn has had extensive repairs done profesionally and is now in very good condition. It plays very well up in the high register.	No.2749	£2400.00

TRIPLE HORNS

Alexander 309 F/Bb/f-alto triple horn with compensating low F side. Yellow brass, detachable bell, lacquered and comes with an adjustable ducks foot. This horn is in excellent condition and plays exceedingly well over all three horns.	No.9605	£5000.00
Besson F/Bb/f-alto full triple horn. Medium fixed bell, gold brass, lacquered, with Bags backpack case. In fantastic condition, this instrument is a lot of horn for the money. Whilst not the finest triple on the market, its Bb and F alto sides in particular play very nicely. The low F side is a little stuffy, but for someone who wants a triple or an alto horn for occasional use this one is hard to beat.	No.010	£2000.00

PISTON HORNS

Boosey & Hawkes piston horn, silver plated, with F crook and Paxman fibreglass case. Probably an ex-band instrument, as the bell is larger than is traditional on a piston horn.	No.AP6597	£400.00
Boosey & Hawkes piston horn. This horn comes in a Tenorman gig bag with an F crook. It has a slightly awkward finger hook for the left hand but this can be adjusted easily. The horn still plays well but has a few dents, especially in the top branch.	No.113622	£500.00
